Black Knight Medieval Society (Formal letter)
Dear Editor,
I am writing in reference to the review of the annual Medieval Fair, recently published in your newspaper. I accompanied one of my friends, member of the Black Knight Medieval Society, to the above mentioned event and would like to correct some inaccurate information.
Firstly, the article claimed that the event had not attracted local attention, however this is not true. The small number of visitors was due to the lack of a big enough car park. The society has received e-mails voicing people's regret at not being able to attend the event.
Space was also an issue concerning the medieval skills demonstrations. The small venue did not allow organisers to include more activities of the kind. The Black Knight Medieval Society recognises this problem and has contacted the Council with the hope of resolving it next year.
Secondly, the article stated that people were unimpressed with the attractions. However, far from being dissatisfied with the demonstration of medieval arts and skills, visitors expressed their approval of the organised activities. Children were entertained by the archery display.
Visitors have written to the society expressing their approval of the event. Some of them pointed out their content and fascination with medieval dancing and cooking.
In responce to the article's criticism of the safety, I would like to point out that the measures, taken to prevent any accidents were in accordance with the National Association of Historic Societies requirements. The event was supervised at all times in order to enhance visitors' security.
In conclusion I would like to express my hope that you will take this letter into consideration and publish a written apology to the society.
